Stroud faces off against Burrow..
Welcome welcome! Glad to see you once again! It’s crazy how fast the season is just flying by, we’re already in week 10! Trying to make the playoff push? Cruising along or in need of a win? We’re gonna cover a good bit of ground today to help you prep for Sunday!
Let’s get to it!
I took down Monday and Thursday, so feeling pretty good here. After suffering a bit of an ego bruise I’ve gotten on a bit of a streak. I will say there was a little bit of a scare on Thursday, as my wife came within four points of my lineup. My combo of Thielen at captain with Foreman, Hubbard, Mooney, Mingo, and Bears DST won the day, but not any money! Wifey is falling a bit behind, as I’m 9-3 on the season, but I have a feeling she’s gonna get me some more before too long. The fact I’m this far ahead, even with her picking lineups at random, in showdown slates is interesting given the volatility of single-game slates.
Truth be told, among the several lineups I did make for the game in other contests, the best one ended up being Foreman at captain and both team DST’s. Thanks for the punt TD return Carolina! Because that is all you did. No sacks, turnovers, nothing. So at least there was that.
Thursday Night Fantasy Recap
That was a game alright. Didn’t say it was a good one, but it was a game. Bears take home the win 16-13 over the Panthers. The hilarious thing is the Bears improve their draft stock no matter the outcome, as they own the Panthers 2024 first-round pick.
So, unless you’re starting Adam Thielen, who’s looking more like a WR2/3 now, I doubt you’re starting a Panther going forward. Mike Strahan was Carolina’s leading receiver, he had one catch for 45 yards. I understand Bryce Young is dealing with a receiving corps that lacks talent, but man, I want to see more from him than what he’s been showing. For some, it just takes more time. We truly won’t get a grasp of how good he could be until Carolina gets him a true No.1 option to go along with Thielen, who can’t keep this up forever.
For the Bears, DJ Moore had a decent game. D’Onta Foreman was the one Bear you were really happy you started, as he scored the game’s only offensive touchdown. Roschon Johnson got some nice passing game involvement, but he’s not getting enough of a workload to warrant starting him. In passing, I want to mention how sad I am Darnell Mooney is just not being used in this offense.
Things to look out for in Week 10
🇺🇸 The Patriots face the Colts in Germany on Sunday, and for the German fans out there, I’m sorry. You hoped to see Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor face off against the storied Patriots franchise, and you get, well, not that. Demario Douglas and JuJu Smith-Schuster are my two favorite Pats pass catchers this week not named Rhamondre Stevenson.
After starting the season slow, Stevenson now has three RB2 performances in the past month, including two top-10 performances.
🐴 Watch practice reports for Josh Downs. If he can’t go, it’s wheels up for Michael Pittman. If he does go, both he and Pittman have shown the ability to produce with Minshew under center.
Jonathan Taylor looks to be back. He had the majority of the team’s carries last week and should be getting the bell-cow role from here on out.
🐂 Houston vs Cincinnati will be one of the more exciting games this weekend. How does Houston follow up an emotional win against Tampa? Can Cincy keep up their hot streak or is the loss of Tee Higgins hurt them too much to overcome? Noah Brown is a name you can start in a pinch. Tyler Boyd is another guy you can start if needed.
🔥 Will Levis gets a nice matchup this week when he faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs don’t bring a lot of pressure, according to Pro-Football-Reference. That should give him more time to let plays develop downfield. Hopkins could be in for a nice game here, especially after what the Bucs allowed Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Noah Brown do to them,
Jaguars vs. 49ers also looks like a fun game. Start your studs here.
🐦️ I’m not exactly sure what to think of the Ravens pass catchers against Cleveland. On the one hand, they routed the Browns a few weeks ago and it was one of Lamar Jacksons’s better performances this season. But, can he repeat? Mark Andrews is his only reliable target. Zay Flowers is fine but not the revelation we thought he was going to be.
🟠 It’s a tough week to start Jerome Ford against the Ravens, who have not been kind to running backs this season. Running back is thin, however, so if you must, you must.
On the other side of the coin, still talking Browns-Ravens, but Keaton Mitchell is not someone I’d start this week. We’ve seen too little from him other than what he did in Arizona in a blowout. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill still run this backfield.
🔴 In weeks 1-6 of last season without DeAndre Hopkins and with Kyler Murray, Marquise Brown was the overall WR5 in half PPR scoring. Murray is back this week, boosting all of the Cardinals’ pass catchers but notably Brown. Heck if Michael Wilson plays, he could be a nice start as well.
He’s a tough start, but Quentin Johnston has some sleeper appeal in the Chargers-Lions game. As the Chargers de-facto WR2, he’s had snap percentages at or above 70% in the past two weeks. The Jets were a tough matchup but Detroit is a little easier on wideouts.
🏙️ Unless it’s Saquon Barkley, don’t start any Giants this week against Dallas.
🤠 Derek Brown of Fantasy Pros put out a tweet saying the Giants have led the NFL in man coverage rate since Week 6. CeeDee Lamb averages 5.1 YPRR in that time frame. That is insane. As if you needed another reason to start Lamb, who I think is going to smash this week for both regular leagues and in DFS. Tony Pollard could be in for a bounce-back game.
For the Seattle Seahawks, there are several injuries to watch out for this week, namely Kenneth Walker and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Both have popped up on the injury report and if both were to miss, it opens up opportunities for Zach Charbonnet and more work for DK Metcalf.
I can’t wait to see the Thursday night game replay on Sunday night football between the Raiders and Jets. It’s gonna be rough. If nothing else, Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Jakobi Meyers, and Davante Adams can all be started. If you need a TE, then Tyler Conklin is a name worth bringing up.
That’s all for this week! Best of luck this weekend!
