Revenge Game Across the Pond

and a changing of the guard in the NFC North?

It’s crazy how fast the season goes, we’re just about to have a month's worth of football on Sunday!

We’ll dive into the games on Sunday as well as do our weekly Thursday night recap for fantasy football. But first, I wanted to just ask. Are the Lions the team to beat in the NFC North? Have they taken the mantle from the Packers as the ones who carry that division? It would seem so, especially after smacking Green Bay 34-20 in Lambeau. Truthfully, it didn’t even feel as close as two scores.

Jared Goff went from struggling starter in LA to, well, thriving starter in Detroit. Thriving might be a little strong, but it’s hard to ignore how well he’s done since arriving. Amon-Ra St.Brown continues to be one of the best young wide receiver talents in the league, and David Montgomery scores touchdowns again. And again. And again. I put out this tweet in the first half, hoping it would be incorrect by the end of the game, but alas, twas not to be.

Such is life I suppose. Anyway, let’s get to it!

Thursday Night Fantasy Recap

First off, the Lions looked great. The offense was moving, Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond both made plays. Montgomery is a borderline RB1 with all the goalline work he gets. He has five touchdowns in three games with the Lions. Jahmyr Gibbs's usage is frustrating and concerning. He’s more of an RB3 unfortunately, and he’s not living up to the preseason hype we all had for him. It’s time to accept that reality until we see a dramatic shift in touches.

For the Packers, it was good to get Christian Watson back. He scored their first touchdown on a wide-open goalline throw from Jordan Love. He’ll only continue to get better as he gets further removed from injury and back up to game speed. For the running backs, they predictably struggled against a ferocious Lions defensive front. Aaron Jones is still a great back, it was just a night to avoid him. Romeo Doubs had a night though, setting a career-high in receptions and yards. Jayden Reed is the WR3 of the offense for now, but he will have his weeks.

Things to look out for in Week 4

  • 🐆 It’s revenge week for Calvin Ridley, going against the Falcons in London. The Falcons have been tough on WRs so far, so temper expectations. But, I think Lawrence, Ridley, Kirk, and Engram are startable. Etienne is an RB2, but the Falcons have been good against them too. For the Falcons, it’s Bijan and get out, in my opinion. Pitts you may have to start because he’s a tight end.

  • It’s also revenge week for another receiver, this time it’s Adam Thielen. He went OFF for a huge game against Seattle with Andy Dalton, but if Byrce Young plays, that will lower his ceiling. He can still be good for fantasy, just might not score as much.

  • 🐴 Zack Moss should be in your starting lineups this week with the kind of volume he’s been getting. Pittman and Downs are great options in the Indianapolis passing attack against LAR.

  • 🐏 Speaking of the Rams, Puka Nacua should also be starting for you unless you have gaudy receiver talent. He was bound to come down to earth after having such a scorching start. He’s in WR2 territory and I’m not pulling the plug after one “bad” game. Heck, he was three yards away from a touchdown and we wouldn’t be having this conversation!

  • Of course,Tutu Atwell and Kyren Williams are in for you as well.

  • 🐦️ I’m fading the Ravens this week. Not a full fade but a heavy one. The Browns’ defense is 1st against QBs, receivers, and tight ends and 2nd against RBs. If that’s not a dominant performance, I don’t know what is. Lamar is starting because you have to. Andrews you start because you have to. Flowers you can start just temper expectations.

  • 🟠 On the other side, I’m starting Watson, Ford, Cooper, and Moore. I think the Browns will win this one, but let’s hope that that is analyst me and not homer me talking.

  • I’d wait and see how the Saints use Alvin Kamara if I can. Start Olave against a weaker Bucs secondary.

  • 🏴‍☠️ Sit Mike Evans. He’s got Marshon Lattimore on him. Do you need more analysis? Yes? Fine…he has one game of over 100 receiving yards in 17 games against the Saints in his career.

  • 🦬 and 🐬 Thought I’d kill two birds with one stone. Start everyone. That’s it.

  • For the Broncos vs. the Bears? Yikes. Fields can be started if needed. I like DJ Moore and Roschon this week. Khalil Herbert I just can’t get myself to play him but he is their starter so I can’t argue with it. For the Broncos, Jerry Jeudy and Javonte Williams are your two main guys. Russell Wilson is a fine streamer.

  • 🐅 🐯 The Titans have allowed Chris Olave (19.2 PPR pts), Keenan Allen and Mike Williams (31.1 and 16.6 respectively) and Amari Cooper (24.6) to go off on them. Now they face Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Play them both with confidence.

  • Starting a Steelers running back is tough this week. Najee Harris has just been, not good. And it’s tough to trust him eve against the Houston run defense. Jaylen Warren could be a nice flex though.

  • Keep a close eye out on San Fransisco’s injury situation. Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk both have their own issues. We could see a TON of Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle this week.

  • ✈️ Don’t start a Jet if you can help it. I’m in some leagues where I have to. It is what it is.

  • 🤠 For the New England vs Dallas game, start Pollard and Lamb, stream Ferguson, and start Rhamondre. Then get out.

That’s all for this week! 😊 Best of luck and I’ll see you next time!
