Raheem Mostscore!

And Cleveland pulls off the upset!

I can’t tell you how happy I am about how the Cleveland game went. Well, ok I wish it went more in favor of the Browns and that they won by a much larger margin. But I guess that made the victory all that much sweeter.

For those who didn’t see the game, Cleveland was up by two and San Fransisco drove down the field and presented their rookie kicker with a potential 40-yard game-winner, which he pulled wide right. To be fair to San Fran, they were down CMC and Deebo, but we are down our starting QB and RB. So there 😝 . Getting off my soap box.

Once again, we suffered QB injuries, this time Trevor Lawrence is dealing with injury.

I’ll try to keep my player takes as short and sweet as possible to make the newsletter easily digestible, yet impactful and informative.

News and Notes

  • 🐬 No Achane, no problem. Raheem Mostert just keeps on chugging. 20 touches, 135 yards, and three touchdowns later, he left fantasy managers everywhere happy. Or in despair, depending on which side you were on.

  • 🪶 Don’t look now, but Desmond Ridder is the QB3 over the last two weeks. He’s completed nearly 67% of his passes in that span, but interceptions are still a problem. Time will tell if he turned a corner, but he gets a string of favorable matchups coming up so he might find a rhythm. Maybe, just maybe, he can be a true starting QB. But time will tell. For now, I can’t advise streaming him unless you’re in dire need at QB, which could well be this week!

  • Speaking of the Falcons, KYLE PITTS CAUGHT A TOUCHDOWN!!!

  • 🔵 I have not been a Chuba Hubbard stan, pretty much ever. But, I can’t deny what I’ve seen on the field and in the stats. He has outclassed Miles Sanders in every metric, and if the Panthers want to give Bryce Young the best chance for him to grow, they may well consider starting Hubbard even when Sanders returns.

  • At least he waited till after he racked up points, but Kyren Williams is dealing with a sprained ankle. He’s not expected to miss much time but will likely miss the Rams game against the Steelers.

  • Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a knee injury. Horray, yet another QB injury. We can’t catch a break. The good news is it’s not expected to be serious. The bad news is he plays on Thursday. So may miss still. QB waivers are going to be “anyone with a pulse” this week.

  • Matthew Stafford was the QB12 on the week. Sounds great, until you realize Jameson Williams scored as many points as Stafford. Williams was the WR26. And ran nine routes.

  • Fresh back from injury, Saquon Barkley had 28 touches. The Giants are bad, but he’s an RB1 on volume alone.

  • The split between Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss was much closer this week, which makes sense with Taylor still working his way back from injury. Both had 13 touches, with Taylor having the edge in yards and Moss scoring a touchdown.

  • Puka Nacua had a down game, his first true down game. Seven targets, four receptions, 26 yards. Not good. But, there is a bright side. His seven targets were still good for a 29% target share.

  • Michael Mayer is becoming interesting, especially if he starts seeing more consistent volume in the offense.

  • David Montgomery suffered a rib injury and is expected to miss time. Jahmyr Gibbs breakout incoming? I wish I could say this in jest, but pick up Craig Reynolds if he’s available.

Thursday Night Preview

Jacksonville goes to visit the Saints on Thursday night football. Vegas is favoring the Saints to win, I think in part due to the injury to Trevor Lawrence. But, they do have a very good defense, so there is that. Derek Carr has been serviceable on the Saints, but I can’t it’s been a smooth ride type of serviceable. Hopefully, we get a good game on Thursday.

Jacksonville Jaguars

This all depends on whether Trevor Lawrence plays or not. If he plays, then start Christian Kirk and Calvin Ridley. If not, it’s tough to trust the two of them against a tough New Orleans defense. With running back and tight end the way they are, you’re starting Travis Etienne and Evan Engram. It helps that they’ve been good too. I can’t trust any of the ancillary options even as “sleepers”, including Tank Bigsby.

New Orleans Saints

Chris Olave had a decent day against Houston and should keep up the good work against the Jaguars. Alvin Kamara has been a PPR machine since returning and the Jaguars have allowed the eighth most receptions to running backs this year. Michael Thomas is a low-end flex play. If Juwan Johnson were to miss another game, Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau are interesting options at tight end.

Final Thoughts

That’s all I have for now, thanks for reading and we will see you on Friday! Don’t forget to set your waivers, make your FAAB bids, and keep grinding out those wins!
