NFL 2024 Week 4 Waiver Wire

This week’s waivers, much like last week, don’t have any big names or guys you HAVE to go out and grab. However, there are a bunch of guys you should go out a grab off of waivers. The running back free-agent pool feels a lot deeper than usual to me, which is a good thing. Wide receiver? Not so much, which is surprising.

Tight end free agent pool? There are two names I really like but after that, that’s about it.

Either way, we’ll get your roster all nice and fixed up for your Week 4 showdown.

Week 4 Waiver Targets

  • QB: Andy Dalton vs CIN, Sam Darnold @ GB Kinda gross but could work: Daniel Jones vs DAL, Justin Fields @ IND

  • RB: Bucky Irving vs PHI, Braelon Allen vs DEN, Rico Dowdle @ NYG, Samaje Perine @ LAC, Emanuel Wilson vs MIN, Roschon Johnson vs LAR,

  • WR: Darnell Mooney vs NO, Jalen Tolbert @ NYG, Wan’Dale Robinson vs DAL, Xavier Legette vs CIN

  • TE: Mike Gesicki @ CAR, Zach Ertz @ ARI, Cole Kmet vs LAR, Tyler Conklin vs DEN

Andy Dalton lit up the Raiders’ defense and could be in line for yet another banger against his former team. He’s my primary add this week at quarterback. 🛶 Sam Darnold has been lighting up defenses this year and looks like the quarterback he was drafted to be. He’s no longer seeing ghosts! 🟡 Justin Fields and Daniel Jones give us some lower-ceiling options but add plenty of scoring with their legs. Jones does have Malik Nabers, however, and that alone gives you a reason to start him.

🏴‍☠️ Bucky Irving is putting pressure on Rachaad White for the starting job with every passing week. White is still heavily involved in the passing game but Irving has been amazing in the rushing attack. Allen isn’t just a handcuff for Breece Hall, he’s looking like a decent flex play as well. Perine and Carson Steele look like they will be splitting the workload until Pacheco or Clyde Edwards-Helaire comes back, and Perine is less rostered and has pass-catching upside.

Emanuel Wilson is a pure handcuff stash but could be interesting if Jacobs suffers any injury. 🐻 Lastly, Roschon Johnson got the most out of his touches on Sunday. He was out-touched by D’Andre Swift but gained 20 more yards. With how badly Swift is struggling, Roschon may get his chance sooner rather than later.

It’s interesting when I have more running-back suggestions than wide receivers, but here we are. 🔴 Mooney has had at least 66 receiving yards in each of the last two weeks and caught all eight of his targets against Kansas City. Jalen Tolbert looks like the WR2 in Dallas, but Brandin Cooks did have six targets. It’s probably going to be a bit back and forth for those two. 🤠

Wan’Dale has firmly planted himself as the WR2 in New York and has been Daniel Jones’s favorite target behind Malik Nabers this year. Robinson is finally showing the potential he flashed as a rookie now that he is healthy and has a full-time role. With Thielen suffering a hamstring injury, Xavier Legette could be an interesting flex play for the next several weeks behind Diontae Johnson. 🔵

As for the tight ends, it’s a crap shoot. But if they are still available in your league, and they are in many, Mike Gesicki and Zach Ertz are by far my favorite tight-end targets. They have been among the most consistent tight ends out there this year in a year where tight ends have decided to vanish from fantasy football. I’ll take Conklin and Kmet as well. Kmet has seen his target share come up in the last two weeks and could be a safety blanket for Caleb Williams. ✅
