Jordan Addiscore!

I can't stop with the player puns...

I had a little extra time on my hands this week, so I was able to dive a little further into this slate of games we have on Sunday, and I believe I’ve brought some useful info for you all.

One thing I give my wife credit for, my cost for losing in DFS is not high. I basically just have to mention that I lost. But I figured I would mention my win in passing and detail my ugly loss on MNF so I can make my punishment not so mild.

Thursday night went great, I didn’t spend much, just a couple of dollars but on an ROI% basis it was one of my best nights of the season. I won our showdown by about 40 points and place second in a contest.

Monday night? Oh, boy. That was an UGLY loss. Like I had lost to her before where I was ahead till a final last-minute catch by “insert name here”. I can live with that, stuff like that happens in football. What’s painful is she’s just kinda picking players whereas I’m over here trying to find a boom combo using DFS knowledge and skill.

But luck plays a part in DFS too. Skill is massive and it’s how you win long term. Knowing how to construct lineups is only half the battle. Having it break right is a different story. I thought the 49ers were going to hand it to the Vikings. So I made my lineup as such. That’s not what happened. My wife beat me with Kirk Cousins, who threw a pick on his second passing attempt, at Captian. Purdy, CMC, Kittle, GREG JOSEPH, and Kene Nwangwu rounded out her lineup. Her captain QB stack was with a guy most people didn’t know was an NFL player and a kicker.

I lost by 20 points. Purdy at Captain, CMC, Kittle, Juauan Jennings (I’m very pleased with his performance by the way), K.J. Osborn, and the Niners’ defense lost.

DFS is fun. Make sure to stop by the Discord to see what I and others are playing in cash and tournament lineups this Sunday. 😝😉

Thursday Night Recap

I don’t know whose loss was worse, mine or the 49ers. Purdy’s interception on the last drive was the nail in the coffin. Purdy could be out this week against the Bengals, so Sam Darnold would take his place. Yikes. They might go on a three-game losing streak if that happens. CMC and Aiyuk remain reliable options, with Kittle being very boom-bust. Juauan Jennings was a nice surprise and with Deebo out this week I’m fine with him as a flex play or cheap DFS option.

The Vikings might actually be NFC North contenders. The Packers are up next and it could be closer since it’s a divisional game, but the Vikings are still churning out wins even with Justin Jefferson on IR. Largely thanks to TJ Hockenson and Jordan Addison. K.J. Osborn and Brandon Powell are flex-worthy options. Alexander Mattison should be avoided if you can, he ran well on limited touches but was largely uninvolved. Cam Akers didn’t do as well on the ground but did catch two passes for 30 yards. Just stay away from this backfield and focus on the receiving options.

Things to look out for in Week 8

  • Of the top 12 wide receivers in yards per route run, Nico Collins came in at number four. Chiefs rookie Rashee Rice came in at eleventh. This Sunday they get the Panthers and Broncos respectively.

  • 🏹 Speaking of Rice, he has one of the smallest ADOTs of any receiver in the NFL who has played over 150 snaps. In fact, he ranks 100th out of 105. His team air-yard share is not much better. But as long as he continues to get volume, he’s a great play as an emerging talent.

  • Since we’re talking about the Chiefs, Isaiah Pacheco is primed for a bounce-back week with the Broncos on tap.

  • Don’t forget about Tank Dell this week against Carolina, if he plays.

  • ☠️ Jakobi Meyers has gone for 85 yards and/or a touchdown in all but one game this season. He plays Detroit this week, who have given up the eleventh most points to wideouts this year.

  • 🪶 Zach Ertz is on IR, clearing the way for Trey McBride to get more run in the offense. The second-year tight end has hauled in seven of 11 targets for 91 yards in the past two weeks. Hopefully he breaks out in this window of opportunity.

  • 🐆 Christian Kirk gets to face the Pittsburgh passing defense that just allowed Puka Nacua to go have an eight-reception, 154-yard game against them. Calvin Ridley has been so up and down this season, and he’s more of a desperation start than a reliable play.

  • ⛪️ Alvin Kamara is the RB3 since returning in half-PPR scoring. He has caught 7 or more passes in three of four games. He and Christian McCaffrey are the only running backs with 35 receptions in a four-game span since, well, ever. If you go down to 34 receptions, the next occurrence is Matt Forte back in 2014. Side note, Forte had 102 receptions that season.

  • It’s not the best WR/CB matchup if Jaire Alexander shadows him, but Jordan Addison should be a fixture in your lineup this week after his massive breakout game against the 49ers. He had been playing behind K.J. Osborn previously, but the injury to Justin Jefferson has thrust him into a larger role sooner than the Vikings staff may have wanted. It looks like he has stepped up big time.

  • Should Deebo Samuel miss the 49ers game against the Bengals, Jauan Jennings is a sneaky play. He played well in the Niners’ loss to the Vikings, with five catches for 54 yards on nine targets.

  • 🐎 After having his best game of the season Javonte Williams is rewarded with a matchup with Kansas City. The good news is he averaged 5.2 YPC against them in week 6 and his receiving work returned in week 7.

  • 🤠 Jake Ferguson is in a good spot this week against the Rams, who have given up the seventh most points to tight ends. He is third on the Cowboys in targets, receptions, and yards.

  • 🟣 Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are both viable flex plays against Arizona this week, with Edwards my preferred option.

  • 🐂 If you’re in need of a running back, Devin Singletary is worth a look. He has the edge over Dameon Pierce in YPC and several more advanced metrics like rushing yards before contact. Singletary also played more snaps than Pierce in their matchup before the bye. It’s possible Singletary is going to be more involved post-bye and could even get a majority workload in the future.

  • 🦬 Dalton Kincaid just had the best game of his young career and Dawson Knox just underwent wrist surgery. Tampa Bay hasn’t been the easiest matchup for tight ends but with the potential for more targets on a team that’s thrown the 8th most passes in the NFL, we’ll take it.

That’s all for this week! I need some wins this week to get some of my teams back on track, hoping for the best, and best of luck to all of you! Let’s get it!
