An Apology for Earlier...
Plus some way to early QB Rankings
I owe you all an apology. I completely left off a section in this weeks newsletter and I am just now able to sit down and write the section I missed.
When discussing quarterbacks, I had meant to do a wrap-up of the position in addition to my “final thoughts”, which is usually just a farewell.
For that I am sorry, and I need to do better for everyone. I’m super excited for 2024 but I need to start things off on the right foot!
With that in mind, here is my “wrap-up” of the top 20ish quarterbacks that we discussed earlier this week:
Overall, the quarterback position was a mess this season. We had players who finally hit their stride or were looking to be in great shape for a productive year (like Joe Burrow, Anthony Richardson, or Kirk Cousins) before they suffered a season-ending injury. We had rookie and second-year quarterbacks not take the leap. Others just failed to live up to expectations (Patrick Mahomes and Trevor Lawrence, for example).
We’re to endure a lot of uncertainty at the quarterback position in 2024, with new QBs being drafted in a talented 2024 rookie class and free agents moving around. Justin Fields and Kirk Cousins may be on new teams come the start of the 2024 season Others are facing potential backup roles like Mac Jones, Sam Howell, and Desmond Ridder. Still others are young signal callers facing new coaching situations, like Will Levis and Bryce Young.
It’s very early to be thinking about next season, but if I had to make a list of my top-20, here is what it would look like:

Obviously, it is very early and doesn’t account for incoming rookies, but that is where I’m at right now. Still a long offseason ahead of us, even with the postseason still going strong!
That will do it for this update of the newsletter. Sorry for the mistake and I can’t wait until Tuesday when we talk running backs!
